5 Fall Fashion Trends to Incorporate Today

As I am working towards minimizing my wardrobe and streamlining it to mix and match my pieces in a more effective way, I have been exploring the fall trends in fashion.  I am hoping that adding just a few of these can perk up what I already have and not cost me a whole lot.  I have picked 5 that I think are easily incorporated into your existing wardrobe.

1. PLAID

I'm seeing plaid everywhere!  A plaid shirt and denim jeans are made to be together.  For a smaller dose of plaid, add a scarf.

Here is one from Madewell:

Another cheaper version from Charlotte Russe:

If you are looking to add one piece to your fall wardrobe, then go mad for plaid!

2. ROCKER CHICK

Leather and zippers.  The key to this look is to only add one leather piece at a time, otherwise you look like you are ready to hop on your Harley.  You can throw on a moto jacket with just about any outfit and the cool factor goes up.  There is a huge range in price with this trend, but lucky for us, there is a lot of faux leather out there that looks just as good as the real thing without the cost.

Here is a moto jacket from Target:

3. BOOTIES

A bootie is defined as a boot which hits at mid calf or shorter.  They often have embellishments such as zippers, buckles, or cut outs.  The heel height can vary.  A bootie is perfect pared with a skinny jean with a small roll.

Here are some styles from Target which I like. They come in several different colors.

4. PASTELS

Pastel colors such as pink, mint cream, light blue and cream are made for fall and winter this year.  Here is a picture of a recent runway show which demonstrates how these colors can work for colder weather.

Here are some ways you can translate that runway style in your closet.

Another way to incorporate this trend is in outerwear:

5. HATS

This season's hats are a wider brim than the fedora.  The material we are seeing is felt with trim in leather.  Here is a great video I came across which demonstrates how to incorporate hats into your wardrobe.

It's all about having fun so even adding just one of these pieces can perk up what you already own and give you a fresh look!

To life feeling like home!
