Back to School: Tips for Packing Lunches

As our Back to School theme continues this week, let's talk lunches!  Who enjoys packing lunch?  Definitely not me.  It may be one of my least favorite chores.

To  make it a little more manageable and a happy little chore, I thought I'd share with you some tips and tricks I've discovered.  First, if you are going to have to look at it every day, then why shouldn't it be pretty along with useful.

Here are some of our favorite lunch box supplies:

 Packit Freezable

The whole box contains a gel liner which will keep your lunch cold for up to 10 hours!  No more warm bologna!  And it comes in cute designs too!  Love the owls 🙂

Another long time favorite of ours has been Lunchskins reusable lunch pouches.

Lunchskins

These little pouches eliminate the waste of zipper lock bags and can be put in the dishwasher.

Another alternative to the Lunchskins is a plastic lunch box.  This one by Happy Jackson can't help but make lunch the bright spot of your day!

Another helpful tip is a printable with lunch ideas.  I always start the year strong but fall into a lunch rut packing the same things over and over.  This will not only give you some clever ideas but will allow your son or daughter to do the packing on their own!  Hang this printout on the fridge and even use it for a shopping list.  This print out is available at Tip Junkie.

Another great printable is this Kids DIY Lunch Box from mom.me.

To make the morning packing rush less painful, a lunchbox station is helpful.  Annie at Live Simply did a great post on organizing your mornings.  Her organization will blow you away!

XO,

  1. What great lunch boxes and printables. I love the idea of putting it into the kids’ hands to take control of their lunch (within reason). Thanks for another great post and also for stopping by our “Everything But the Kitchen Sink” linkup!
