READ with ME! April: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

April's READ with ME! book is The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.

The Girl on the Train

This book is a mystery that unspools through different points of view. “The Girl on the Train” has three narrators—all women. The main one, Rachel, is an alcoholic who occasionally blacks out and can’t trust her own memory. Rachel commutes by train and passes her old neighborhood daily.  While looking out the window, she sees the same couple having breakfast every morning in a house by the tracks. After learning that the woman in the couple has disappeared, Rachel realizes she has witnessed something that could be crucial to solving the case.  Throw in her ex-husband, his new wife, a bickering neighboring couple, booze-induced blackouts and multiple versions of the truth and this thriller is one that you cannot put down.

Similar to Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl, this story is action packed with turns and twists.  The ending is as unexpected as they come and will leave you breathless.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a murder mystery thriller.

Girl on the Train 2

Oh and I hear it's been optioned for a movie from Dreamworks.  Yeah, it will definitely be a good book put to screen.
